For all string players from pre-grade 1+. Students will learn essential ensemble skills whilst playing music ranging from traditional classical string repertoire, to folk, film, rock & pop and more.

Blast Off

Director – Cameron McArthur

Blast Off is suitable for all woodwind and brass players who have either just started learning or have had lessons for about a year. It’s also open to beginner percussionists as well as pianists up to grade 2 who would like to try percussion.

The band plays music tailored to the abilities of the children who turn up and serves as an introduction to playing in an ensemble as well as addressing some of the basic skills of playing a wind instrument.

Musical Munchkins

A brand new parent and child group for young children aged 3-4 designed to help young children develop a love for music and improve their cognitive skills using age-appropriate musical activities. Activities will include singing, dancing and playing musical instruments to engage your budding young musician and help to develop their communication, emotional intelligence and to build their confidence.

Sound Explorers

A brand new music-making group for children aged 5-7 designed to help young children develop a love for music and improve their cognitive skills using age-appropriate musical activities. This lays a strong musical foundation for your budding musician to be able to build on should they decide to start learning a musical instrument at age 7.

The Ukulele Group welcomes adult Ukulele players who can already play the Ukulele to a reasonable standard.

HYJO - Harrogate Youth Jazz Orchestra

Director – James Heaton

HYJO is a senior ensemble offering opportunities to those students who wish to explore jazz technique and repertoire. The band plays from a large library of music ranging from traditional big band numbers to more contemporary music.

The PGs is a band designed for adults who have either never played a wind instrument before or not for a very long time! We have great fun learning the fundamental aspects of playing a wind instrument through music to suit the range of abilities and experience.

Youth Choir

An exciting youth vocal group at HMC; singing your favourite pop songs and more in a fun environment whilst developing musicianship and technical vocal skills. Members will learn how to work as a group as well as getting the chance to sing solo. Age 7-12, no experience required.
